چکیده

The next generation wireless network needs to provide seamless roaming among various access technologies in a heterogeneous environment. In allowing users to access any system at anytime and anywhere, the performance of mobilityenabled protocols is important. While Mobile IPv6 is generally used to support macro-mobility, integrating Mobile IPv6 with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to support IP traffic will lead to improved mobility performance. Advanced resource management techniques will ensure Quality of Service (QoS) during real-time mobility within the Next Generation Network (NGN) platform. The techniques may use a QoS Manager to allow end-to-end coordination and adaptation of Quality of Service. The function of the QoS Manager also includes dynamic allocation of resources during handover. Heterogeneous networks raise many challenges in security. A security entity can be configured within the QoS Manager to allow authentication and to maintain trust relationships in order to minimize threats during system handover. The next generation network needs to meet the above requirements of mobility, QoS, and security. Index Terms —Mobility, NGN, QoS, Security, Wireless.

Quality of Service and Security as Frameworks toward Next-Generation Wireless Networks

This article aims to analyze quality of service (QoS) and security as frameworks toward next-generation wireless networks. QoS, security and mobility can be viewed as three different indispensable aspects in 4G networks. However all are related to networks nodes involving the controlling or the processing if IP packets for end-to-end flows between a mobile node (MN) and its corresponding node (...

Design of Quality-of-Service Signaling for IP-based Mobile Networks

Efficient support for multimedia communication is essential for next generation mobile wireless networks. In order to provide the necessary Quality of Service (QoS) in mobile wireless networks, appropriate signaling has to be defined. We discuss several approaches and design issues of mobility-aware QoS signaling including on/off-path signaling and receiver-initiated reservations. Our QoS signa...

An efficient non-repudiation billing protocol in heterogeneous 3G-WLAN networks

The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...
